Why Dissections Are Importantant In Classrooms

Dissections important in schools for many reasons. They are good for taking a break from other material and doing something fun and educational at the same time. They are important because they teach the students parts of the body and where the parts are of different animals. They teach you how to work with others and plan what each person will do if you are in a group. Dissections are also a very good hands-on lesson.

Science Spring Semester Project

In our science semester project we dropped different objects on one side of a catapult and launched a tennis ball to see how far it went. We recorded the data and looked for a pattern. I learned there is no pattern when comparing the weight of the object dropped and how far the tennis ball is launched. I liked that we got to do the experiment outside. I wish I knew more about what the results would have been if we would have had a higher quality catapult.

A Million Years From Now

Mount Adams is a mountain range in the state of Washington that formed because of a crack in the earth. The crack allowed magma to seep through and over time it was built up forming the mountain range. Magma is still coming out of the earth of forming the mountain range more and more over time. I believe that if magma was to stop building up the mountain range that erosion and weathering would affect the mountains over many millions of years creating cliffs and steeper slopes on the side of the mountains.

How The Earth Was Created

Different people have different beliefs about how the earth was created or formed. I believe that God created the earth. Some people believe God created a big explosion to create the earth, but I believe that he first created light, without an explosion, and from there he formed the rest of the earth just the way he wanted it. One reason for how I can back my belief up is that if you just look outside, at all the trees and the sky and everything around you, there is no way everything around you was created on accident or in a big explosion.

What Really Happens In A Chemical Reaction?

In a chemical reaction an object changes chemically and cannot be changed back to the original substance. You can tell if a chemical change is occurring when the following happens: change in odor, change in color, gives off smoke, change of state, or when bubbles form. For a chemical reaction to happen you have to have two or more chemicals that react with each other.

Why Lab Safety is Important

It is important to have lab safety when you are working by yourself, in a group, and around other people. Wearing protection gear is very important when necessary. When dealing with something hot always be sure to wear gloves and when using a chemical that can hurt your eyes goggles should be worn at all time when you are in the lab. Also when using a chemical or anything that can leave stains be sure to wear an apron or something that protects your clothes. Some chemicals are very dangerous to the body, therefore when using them always do the right thing and never taste, touch, or smell the chemical unless the teacher instructs you to. Always be sure you know what chemical you are using and if you need to wear any protection to be safe and not get physically hurt. Also, when using a chemical always be aware of your surroundings. Being aware of your surroundings means that you know were everything is in case of fire or accident. You also need to know were other groups are so you do not have an accident and hurt another person and be respectful of their space and their chemicals also. Always listen to the teacher and if you have a question about a chemical or what to do always ask the teacher or a classmate that knows what he/she is supposed to be doing. All of these things are important to remember when in the lab working.
